finding your path

went to yoga this morning ; instead of sticking with my “usual,” i mixed it up a bit and visited a teacher who is known for pushing her students … physically, mentally and spiritually in her classes. sometimes emotions creep up that are unexpected, and in between the sweat and (sometimes) tears, it is hard to know which liquid is which. Nielle (our teacher’s name) gave us some incredible food for thought this morning - it’s not about how many books you read, it’s not which yoga teacher you follow, or what new diet you choose to follow - it’s about choosing your path. your path. it’s about meditating on what lifts your heart and gives you the strength to be a better partner, whether it’s friend, lover, daughter. i couldn’t get enough heart openers during that practice - it was like my heart was open to burst out of my chest during every upward facing dog in anticipation of wanting to feel love.

i envisioned what my path might look like during class today, and this is a fun exercise for anyone to do. i realized that when i imagined my path, i envisioned all the feelings, experiences and emotions that give me energy and life.

A sampling:

light. greenery. my bike.

laughter. my husband.

picnics. music. love love love.

i’m happier (and luckier) for dreaming about this and would recommend it for anyone else to try.
